SAN FRANCISCO, CA and SANTA BARBARA, CA and a leading provider of digital content delivery acceleration over high-bandwidth IP networks, announced today that it has entered the Macintosh market through a new release of its popular RocketStream? file transfer acceleration software suite. The new RocketStream 1.2, which supports both Mac and Windows operating systems, allows users to transfer files over private networks or over the public Internet at speeds up to 100 times faster than traditional File Transfer Protocol (FTP). The company will be demonstrating RocketStream at this week's MacWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco.

"Businesses continue to look for solutions that provide powerful, reliable, and simple ways to move large files between users who are geographically dispersed," said Scott Fairbairn, RocketStream's CEO. "The Mac community is known for its innovation, and for its creation and utilization of rich media files. Mac users demand robust, intuitive solutions, and RocketStream provides precisely that."

RocketStream overcomes many of the detrimental effects of network latency on file transfers, and as a result, RocketStream users can send large data files over long distances without incurring the usual slowdown that such distances normally produce. For example, over a large data pipe, RocketStream can securely blast a 10 GB high-definition video file from Tokyo to Los Angeles in 14 minutes instead of 22 hours.

RocketStream 1.2 has been beta tested for the past several months by various Mac users including Photo News Media, Inc., a Florida-based company that provides live news content to major radio and television broadcasters from hard-to-reach locations around the world, typically using both satellite and terrestrial communications links. "We've been using the Mac version of RocketStream and have been very impressed with both the performance and the features," said Michael Lewis, Director of News Operations at Photo News Media. "It is very fast and incredibly easy to use. Our video journalists in the field have large files that must be uploaded very quickly and reliably, and RocketStream has definitely come through for us. We love this product."

Besides speed, RocketStream also provides a full set of managed file transfer automation and security functions. Users can set up hot folders, synchronize files with remote servers, and schedule file transfers in advance, all while relying on RocketStream's on-the-fly encryption and lossless compression to move data securely and reliably. "In addition to being an accelerated file server for corporate networks, RocketStream 1.2 is also well suited for designers, photographers, and film producers, many of whom are Mac users," wrote Manuel Kaiser, technology reviewer at maclife.de, a popular online Macintosh publication based in Germany.

RocketStream 1.2 supports Macintosh computers running OS X v10.4 (Tiger) or later, as well as Windows 2000, 2003 Server, XP, and Vista.
