Zargis CTO to Speak at Medical Devices Conference
PRINCETON, N.J., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Zargis Medical Corp., a
majority-owned subsidiary of Speedus Corp. (NASDAQ:SPDE) announced today that
its founder and chief technology officer, Dr. Raymond Watrous, has been invited
to speak on the topic of auscultation at the April 13-14 Design of Medical
Devices Conference in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Watrous' talk will focus on the
history, science and clinical benefits of computer-aided auscultation of the
heart.
The Design of Medical Devices Conference is sponsored by the University of
Minnesota's Department of Mechanical Engineering along with an assortment of
the world's leading medical device manufacturers -- including Medtronic, St.
Jude Medical Center, Guidant, Boston Scientific and 3M. The conference's
primary objective is to bring together medical device designers, manufacturers,
researchers and public sector representatives to discuss technologies and share
perspectives on issues related to current and future medical device design.
Dr. Watrous is a leading authority on the analysis, interpretation and
monitoring of biomedical signals. Prior to founding Zargis Medical, Dr. Watrous
spent 17 years with Siemens Corporate Research, where he was engaged in speech
recognition and biomedical signal processing research and led the development
of the technology underlying Zargis' core Cardioscan(TM) product. Cardioscan is
the first and only FDA cleared computer-assisted medical device designed to aid
physicians in analyzing heart sounds for the identification of suspected
murmurs, a potential sign of heart disease. Dr. Watrous has also published
numerous technical articles and is the lead inventor for nine core Zargis
patent applications in the field of computer-aided diagnostics.
