Speedus to Review Strategic Alternatives for Wireless Patents

NEW YORK, March 23  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Speedus Corp. (NASDAQ:SPDE)
announced today that it is actively soliciting proposals related to its
portfolio of 43 domestic and international wireless broadband patents. Speedus
is exploring options that will allow it to leverage these assets, including
joint venture opportunities and licensing arrangements.

Communication companies have recently demonstrated a heightened interest in
broadband wireless, including the deployment of networks using fixed Wi-Fi and
WiMax standards. As a result, Speedus believes this is an opportune time to
maximize the value of its wireless patents by identifying companies that are
likely to have an interest in the portfolio to support and protect their own
wireless broadband strategies.

Speedus owns a total of 43 patents in 22 countries. The Company also has 21
patents pending, which will extend the reach of the portfolio into an
additional six nations. The patents comprising the portfolio can be used in a
combination of ways to enhance and enable the operation of wireless systems.
The patents may be of value to manufacturers and operators of certain types of
wireless systems.

  The Speedus patent portfolio includes:
  -- U.S. Patent 4,747,160 relating to a broadband multi-function cellular
     data and video system

  -- U.S. Patent 5,594,937 relating to transmission and reception of
     directional radio signals utilizing gigahertz implosion concepts

  -- U.S. Patent 5,668,610 relating to a broadband multi-function cellular
     data and video system utilizing transmitter configuration with
     polarization-diversity which allows frequency re-use

  -- U.S. Patent 5,949,793 relating to simultaneous transmission of digital
     and analog signals in the same band

  -- U.S. Patent 5,983,078 relating to radio signal distortion reduction

  -- U.S. Patent 6,438,359 relating to a redundant transmitter arranged with
     backup switching

  -- 37 foreign counterparts for the above patents in 22 countries,
     including China, Japan, Russia, France and Israel.
