GERMANTOWN, Md., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Density Dynamics, a majority owned subsidiary of Speedus Corp. (NASDAQ:SPDE), announced today it has released a new DRAM solid state drive (DR-SSD) designed exclusively with DRAM memory. DR-SSD technology is now available in the newly available DRAM Jet.io(TM). The Density Dynamics proprietary design utilizes DRAM memory for "hot" core storage functions in a uniquely compact 3.5-inch form factor alleviating I/O bottlenecks using dramatically lower power than other storage solutions. "We use DRAM as the core of our solid state drive because it doesn't degrade like flash based SSDs used by most SSD vendors. Prospective customers have told us of their real world experience with flash SSD degradation for high volume random write (w-ops) applications. DRAM Jet.io targets customer applications that do not require a non-volatile solution. No other SSD suppliers have a 100% DRAM SSD in a 3.5" form factor available today," said Dave Wilkerson, CTO of Density Dynamics. "While the market for SSDs has grown dramatically, the focus on flash based solutions has left many customers wondering about the durability limitations of flash as we have explained in our recently published white paper," added Wilkerson "Flash SSD degrades under high write volume applications such as trading networks and other financial platforms. These findings have been cited in recent articles. The industry continues to highlight the problem and announce ongoing fixes using sophisticated algorithms within proprietary software. Density Dynamics addresses these issues with its DRAM Jet.io and RamFlash Jet.io(TM) products with DRAM being the only medium in use in full operation mode of our SSD," said Shant Hovnanian , CEO of Density Dynamics. About Density DynamicsDensity Dynamics, a majority owned subsidiary of Speedus Corp., is a pioneer in the solid-state storage and I/O acceleration technology.
