Safe, secure, anonymous method to report bullying and harassment to schools and law enforcement agencies

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Safe Communications Inc. (Pink Sheets: SGTB.pk)  today launched www.AnonymousTips.com, a new online tool to help students, parents, and teachers report bullies and cyber-harassment by providing a free, safe and secure way to inform school administrators and law enforcement officials of bullying activity. Completely anonymous, the new site allows bullied students an avenue to share information with authorities without fear of reprisal.

"Cyberbullying has become a major problem in our schools, causing psychological harm to our nation's youth and interfering with the educational process," said William J. Bennett, former U.S. Secretary of Education. "Now students have a safe and effective tool for reporting abuse and improving safety for themselves and their classmates."

A 2009 study by the National Institutes of Health found that more than half of students in grades 6 through 10 reported being verbally or socially bullied. One in five students was bullied physically, while one in seven reported being cyber-bullied. The emerging problem of cyber-bullying is especially dangerous because bullied students are more likely to show signs of depression, according to a recent NIH study.

"Recent tragedies involving bullied students have highlighted the urgent need to address the bullying epidemic," said Safe Communications Inc. Child Cyber-Safety Advisory Board Chairman Charles Vance, a 14-year veteran of the U.S. Secret Service. "AnonymousTips.com fosters the collaborative atmosphere we need to get students, parents, and officials working together to stop bullying and keep our kids safe."

AnonymousTips.com also allows parents and teachers to take a proactive role in protecting our children by reporting problems they see and by encouraging children to report bullying without fear of reprisal. The free site allows users to locate the proper authorities in schools, police departments or government offices, and anonymously tip them off to bullying problems in the community.

"Parental involvement goes a long way in fighting bullying," said Donna Rice Hughes, a Child Cyber-Safety Advisory Board member and president of Enough is Enough, a web site devoted to protecting children from online dangers. "Parents who take a proactive role can prevent their kids from becoming bullies or victims of bullies by encouraging communication and honesty, especially when it comes to reporting bullying."

AnonymousTips.com's system is independent of any school district or government, so informers can be confident that they are protected from being identified. It can be used to report any kind of bullying, including physical bullying, cyber-bullying and internet harassment, child and domestic abuse, gang or drug activity, and other suspicious or illegal activities.

Schools and agencies across the country have already signed up to receive tips via AnonymousTips.com, and more are coming on board every day. Parents should encourage their local school and police officials to register with AnonymousTips.com to streamline the process of sharing this important and often time-sensitive information.
