Safe Communications, Inc. Announces Child Cyber-Safe Advisory Board

Members to Assist in Protecting Children From Bullying and Internet and Cell Phone Harassment

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 4, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Safe Communications, Inc., (Pink Sheets: SGTB.pk) today announced the formation of its Child Cyber-Safe Advisory Board to advise the company and its users on various security issues associated with children being on their cell phones and computers.  The Board, made up of prominent experts in the field, will review the various threats facing children today and provide advice for prevention and possible recourse.  

In addition, the Board will make recommendations to Safe Communications, Inc., regarding its child protective web site and email and text filtering service, www.MouseMail.com. The Board will also provide suggestions and specific action to state and federal legislators and policy makers.  The Board members will be a valuable resource for schools, youth clubs, faith-based organizations, parenting groups and other profit and nonprofit organizations.

The distinguished list of Advisors is as follows:

Charles "Chuck" Vance, Advisory Board Chairman

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Mr. Vance spent 14 years as a Special Agent of the U.S. Secret Service during which he served under four presidential administrations, protecting Presidents, Vice Presidents and numerous foreign heads of state.  His specialty, for which he received many in-service awards, was for leading and coordinating the security for complex overseas trips including trips to Kabul, Afghanistan; Rabat, Morocco; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Saigon, Vietnam; Tokyo, Japan; and many others. He also led over 100 security advances for U.S. Secret Service protectees in the United States.

In 1984, Mr. Vance founded Vance International, Inc., a major international security firm. Vance International operated throughout the world and provided highest quality security services, including executive protection; facility security; investigations; security training; strike security; and security consulting.  Mr. Vance grew the company to over 3,000 employees with offices throughout the U.S. and in Mexico City, Sao Paulo, London, and South Africa.  His company had an international reputation as one of the premier security companies in the world.  Mr. Vance sold this company in 2004 to a multi-billion dollar conglomerate.

Mr. Vance has appeared on both U.S. and international television and print media, including "Good Morning America," "Today," "Night Line," "Larry King Live," "Crossfire," BBC, and German television, commenting as an expert on security incidents occurring throughout the world. He has testified, as an expert witness, before a Senate fact-finding committee on Presidential Security.

Mark J. Cheviron, Advisory Board Member

As Vice President of Corporate Security and Services at Archer Daniels Midland, Mr. Cheviron is responsible for all security functions at ADM locations and its subsidiaries worldwide, which includes over 1,700 locations in 73 countries. He also serves as the corporate liaison with all federal, state and local law enforcement personnel.  Prior to his employment with ADM, Mr. Cheviron was Operations Commander and Chief of Detectives of the Macon County Sheriff's Office. He was employed at the Sheriff's Office from 1971 until 1980.

Mr. Cheviron was the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Private Sector Co-Chair 2007 for the U.S. Department of State. Mr. Cheviron is also a founding member of the Domestic Security Alliance Council (DSAC), which is partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and chairs the Continuing Education Committee. He is a committee member of the Food Products Association Security Council, the Private Security Advisory Group and the Global Strategy Institute Advisory Council for the Center of Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the National Grain and Feed Association Bioterrorism Task Force, the Illinois Terrorism Task Force, the Business Roundtable Security Task Force, the Agro-Terrorism Advisory Council and the U.S. Department of Justice Executive Board of Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council (ATAC).

Mr. Cheviron is registered with the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulations as a Private Investigator, a Polygraph Examiner and a Certified Physical Evidence Technician. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and still holds his commission with the Macon County Sheriffs' Office. He has been named in "Who's Who" of the National Security Institute, the "Who's Who" in the National Register and "Who's Who" as a Security Executive.

Mr. Cheviron is a member and past president of the FBI National Academy Associates of Illinois, a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Illinois Sheriffs' Association, the American Society of Industrial Security and the International Security Management Association where he has served as a board member.

Mr. Cheviron received his Baccalaureate Degree in law enforcement administration at Western Illinois University in 1970 and received his Master of Arts degree in social justice professions from the University of Illinois-Springfield in 1976. He also is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, where he was elected speaker of his class (106th session).

Donna Rice Hughes, Advisory Board Member

Donna Rice Hughes, President of Enough Is Enough (EIE), is an internationally known Internet safety expert and advocate. As a respected leader of national efforts to protect children from sexual predators and Internet pornography, Donna has championed EIE's mission to make the Internet safer for children and families since the group's formation in 1994. In September 2005, EIE, a non-profit educational organization (www.enough.org), launched The National Internet Safety Awareness and Parental Empowerment Program with the U.S. Department of Justice and other partners. The Program educates and empowers parents and other adult caregivers to protect the children in their care from Internet dangers. Donna also created and developed the Internet safety website, www.protectkids.com.

Donna is frequently sought out by the media, educators, policy makers, law enforcement officials, and industry leaders for her expertise on solutions for ensuring that children have a safe and rewarding experience online. Her book, Kids Online: Protecting Your Children In Cyberspace (Revell, September 1998), was heralded by the media, parents' groups, industry leaders, and Congress as a "powerful tool for parents." In response to the worldwide interest in the topic of Internet safety, the book has been translated into Spanish and Korean. Steve Case, Founder of America Online, applauds Donna as a "leader" and "effective advocate on behalf of children's online safety." He credits her with helping build the Internet into a "medium of which we can all be proud."

Donna has been interviewed on most of the leading national news broadcasts as an acknowledged expert on Internet safety issues. She has given over 3,000 media interviews and is a regular commentator on Internet safety issues on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC. She has been a featured guest on "Dateline," "The Today Show," "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and "20/20." She co-wrote the story for the May 2000 season finale episode of "Touched By An Angel" that brought the message of Internet dangers and online safety to prime-time television and won the Nielson ratings for its time slot during the May sweeps period. Her views have been featured in publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, The San Francisco Chronicle, The San Jose Mercury News and People Magazine. Additionally, she has authored numerous articles and editorials that have been published in USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and McCall's Magazine. Donna was a member of the Child Online Protection Act (COPA) Commission formed to examine technological solutions to protect children online. In July 2000, she served as co-chair of the COPA Hearings on filtering/ratings/labeling technologies. Additionally, Donna assisted the Japanese Ministry of Education in developing child safety online programs and provided expertise and resources for their report, "Children and the Internet." Donna is a member of the 2006 Virginia Attorney General's Youth Internet Safety Task Force. She currently serves on the advisory board for the GetNetWise initiative and the National Cyber Security Alliance, as well as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's advisory committee addressing social networking issues.

Donna served on the steering committee for the Internet Online Summit: Focus on Children in December of 1997 and America Links Up. She proposed and led the Summit's adoption of an industry "ZERO Tolerance" policy against child pornography, which was endorsed by the White House and the Justice Department. She currently serves on the board of directors for the National House of Hope.

Terry G. Hillard, Advisory Board Member

Mr. Hillary is a founder and partner in Hillard Heintze, one of the leading private strategic security advisory and management companies in the U.S.  Hillard Heintze has global headquarters in Chicago and has operations in Washington, DC, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Pittsburgh, Raleigh and Miami, as well as operating capabilities in the Middle East and both South and Central America.  

The 35 years that Mr. Hillard spent protecting and serving the citizens of Chicago, including a distinguished tenure as superintendent of police, were marked by a compassion for individuals and a commitment to offer creative programs that made the community safer. Today, he draws on his leadership abilities, remarkable expertise and concern for each person he meets in his role as a security advisor.

As superintendent of police, Hillard led more than 13,500 sworn officers who comprise the nation's second largest police department and earned a national reputation as a results driven police chief. Prior to that, he earned accolades as the first African American chief of detectives and deputy chief of patrol in Area Two on Chicago's South Side.

Mr. Hillard's accomplishments reflect his extraordinary sensitivity to individuals. When he established a new Domestic Violence Program, he took steps to reduce the burden on crime victims by creating a policy in which the same detective was always assigned to investigate repeat reports from the same victim. He also opened new lines of communication with the public as part of the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) program.

Mr. Hillard was one of the architects of the Enhanced Drug and Gang Enforcement Program. In this program, drug trafficking areas were saturated with police, and crime statistics quickly dropped. He also established special teams to combat gang problems in schools, reduce the backlog of criminal investigations and protect community assets by lowering the incidence of vandalism and graffiti.

In all of his endeavors, Hillard's remarkable accomplishments are underscored by a genuine sense of compassion. "It is that sense of caring that is the most important to me," he explains. "In the end, success is about integrity, morals and loyalty to the organization where you work and to the men and women on your team."

Mr. Hillard enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1963, served 13 months in Vietnam and received four medals and a Presidential Unit Citation. He entered the Chicago Police Training Academy in 1968 and served as a police officer in several districts and as a specialist in the Gang Crimes Unit. In 1975, he was shot twice and seriously wounded while apprehending a suspect who had shot four suburban police officers. He subsequently received the Chicago Police Medal, an Award of Valor.

Mr. Hillard holds Bachelor and Master degrees in Corrections from Chicago State University. In addition, he has completed training through the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), the FBI National Academy, the FBI National Executive Institute and the U.S. Secret Service Dignitary Protection Course.

Lewis University, Saint Xavier University and Calumet College of St. Joseph have bestowed honorary doctoral degrees on him. He holds a Top Secret Security Clearance.
