Narrowstep(tm) Inc. (OTCBB:NRWS) and its Spanish partner Vivocom today
announced that the ruling political party in Spain, the PSOE (Partido
Socialista Obrero Español) utilized TelVOS,
Narrowstep's Internet TV platform as a key component in the party's
successful election campaign strategy.
The PSOE is one of the first political parties in Europe to launch a TV
channel on the internet and allegedly the only party in power with an
internet TV channel of this kind. In response to criticism from the
opposing party and adversity from certain sectors of the media, the PSOE
launched IPSOE TV (www.psoetv.es) in
an effort to provide an uncensored, direct communication link with the
Spanish public. Since then, the channel, which is managed by Narrowstep
partner, Vivocom, has delivered programming in both a linear schedule
and live basis featuring political speakers and party interests. During
the 14 days run-up to the March 9, 2008 elections, IPSOE TV used the
live broadcast feature of Narrowstep’s telvOS
platform to stream over 32 hours of live transmission which included 20
campaign rallies as well as live interviews between the PSOE and the
opposing party.
Carlos Hernandez, Communications Director for PSOE noted that "the
internet TV channel is an unbeatable communication tool for PSOE. Having
a TV channel on the web has enabled us to adequately explain our message
and political programme on a global scale. Internet offers
interactivity, multidirectional communication and a global distribution
of information like it has never been before." The internet channel
allowed the party to reach remote communities that would not have
otherwise had access to the programmes and underscored one of the
parties values: to bring the party and its information closer to the
people and allow the audience to access them wherever they might be.
Narrowstep, through its Spanish partner Vivocom, provides its platform
and internet-tv tools to other large international organizations in
Spain, such as telecommunications provider Telefonica, the international
bank BBVA and The Red Cross in Spain.
"The Narrowstep platform allowed PSOE to quickly ingest information in
order to broadcast up-to-date figures, analysis and background
information to keep the public informed in a fast-paced election
environment," stated Raul de la Cruz Lincero, President of Vivocom.
"They believe that the channel helped to garner support for their
election win."
Barak Bar-Cohen, Narrowstep President and COO, also added "Narrowstep is
proud to have provided the technology for enabling voters to further
engage in the national election process in Spain. We look forward to
continuing to work closely with PSOE and with other customers in Spain
through our partnership with Vivocom."
