Narrowstep™
(OTC BB: NRWS) the TV on the Internet company and Torque.TV announced
today that Microsoft will be showcasing Torque.TV
using Narrowstep’s
Silverlight integrated video player at the National
Association of Broadcasters trade show next week.
Narrowstep recently announced the launch of its upgraded internet video
player, Player 2.7, which integrates Microsoft’s
Silverlight technology with Atlas
Ad Solutions, an enterprise-class ad-serving platform. The NAB
Show, which is the world's largest electronic media show covering
the development, delivery and management of professional video and audio
content across all mediums, is recognized as an ideal forum to showcase
leading internet-video solutions.
Torque.TV, is a broadband TV
Network for car, truck & motorcycle enthusiasts. Using Narrowstep’s
2.7 Player, viewers are able to watch video, commercials, and promos the
way they are used to on television, selecting specific channels or
on-demand programs if they prefer to click and play. The content
management system needed to pull off such complicated scheduling, with
full quality streaming at variable bit rates, plus DRM, plus cross
browser/cross platform compatibility, plus interactive community tools,
required the combined power of Narrowstep,
Silverlight and Atlas
Ad Solutions. Torque.TV
is the first broadband network to bring all three components together.
As a Microsoft Partner and member of Microsoft’s
Silverlight TAP program, Narrowstep
and Torque.TV jointly
collaborated with Microsoft’s product
development team to develop a Silverlight
experience that adds to Narrowstep’s
already full suite of monetization tools.
“Microsoft
has been invaluable to us in advancing our product set,”
said Michal Stanislawek, Chief Technology Officer of Narrowstep, “We
wanted a solution that provided all the benefits of Windows Media as
well as the additional elements that allow a rich cross-browser and
cross-platform experience. Silverlight
allows Narrowstep to
reach more users on a range of platforms and allows us to continue to
deliver the highest quality video with a flexible player interface and
cool community tools.”
“Broadband is a terrific place to be right
now, especially in the automotive category”,
added Jesse Raiford, CEO, Torque.TV.
“Things are changing at what feels like
200mph and you have to adjust technology to meet viewer and advertiser
demand. Narrowstep’s 2.7 player with the
integrated Atlas AdServer gives us full TV like control of commercials,
on our main site and any of our embedded channels. Viewers want quality
television programming and relevant commercials. Sponsors want inventory
placed in channels that fit their products, and extended messaging &
higher click-through rates with synchronized banners. With Atlas, we get
flexible scheduling for the most sophisticated campaigns, plus fast
delivery, data, optimization and reporting. The player interface and
capabilities of 2.7 helps to build and keep the audience necessary to
monetize our content.”
“Our monetization tools lead the industry,”
added Anthony Yi, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales/Business
Development at Narrowstep, “It has been a
pleasure working directly with Microsoft to enhance the products that
will immediately improve our customers’
ability to make money. Our TelvOS technology, integrated with Atlas and
Silverlight, provides one of the few platforms that allows the
sophistication of syncing video content with video and banner
advertisements seamlessly in a linear programming schedule. Our new
Silverlight Player not only offers the integration with a world-class
ad-serving platform, but offers the slick community features that create
and build viewers.” Mr. Yi will be giving
real world examples of how Internet TV is impacting traditional
broadcast and cable business models in the NAB Panel “The
Money-Go-Round: From TV to Internet and Back Again”
on Tuesday, April 15th.
