MedLink (OTCQB: MLKNA), a leading provider of clinical software and healthcare IT solutions, and Thrasys, Inc., a provider of next-generation health information technology and solutions, announced today that the SunCoast RHIO has joined the Connect HIN - Florida Health Information Network (FLHIN). FLHIN is a health information network collaboration launched in the state of Florida by MedLink and Thrasys as part of the ConnectHIN initiative. ConnectHIN is a connected health initiative that allows interoperability of health records and coordination of care across disparate care communities and Health Information Exchanges (HIE). The FLHIN will interoperate with the State of Florida's Health Information Network.

The FLHIN will provide interoperability, connectivity and applications to help coordinate care by connecting physicians, hospitals, ancillary providers, service centers, patients, and payers, and enable information sharing and care coordination across connected care communities throughout Florida. The SunCoast RHIO will leverage its participation in the FLHIN to enable the RHIO to expand its network in Florida, while offering Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and other healthcare organizations a turnkey technology platform for connectivity and collaboration as participants in FLHIN.

The FLHIN is based on the ConnectHIN coordinated care platform and will enable the SunCoast RHIO to provide application services that can be configured to support tasks and workflows for different roles within a health network -- physicians, nurses, laboratory technicians, pharmacists, patients, front-office personnel, schedulers, system administrators, and so on. Application services provided through the FLHIN include capabilities to exchange information, coordinate workflows and interoperate; create and manage unique identities (persons, physicians and other resources); register persons/patients and check-in visits; access and update demographic and clinical information; place orders and manage clinical workflows; implement rules with decision support; schedule local and global resources; capture charges; automate revenue cycle processes; send alerts and notifications; and assist the State and its vendors with gathering and meeting requirements for quality and public health reporting. The FLHIN also provides interfaces to existing hospital information and departmental systems to enable information exchange and coordination across in-patient and out-patient care.

"We are excited to join with MedLink and Thrasys and participate in the ConnectHIN FLHIN. The Connect Health Information Network technology platform implements many innovations needed for the future of health information technology and has been proven in large-scale deployments worldwide," stated Lou Galterio, President of SunCoast RHIO. "The SunCoast RHIO has been using products from MedLink for Electronic Medical Records, repositories, and information exchange for over a year now focusing on our New York to Florida snowbird population and providers in the two states. It is a natural fit to add the technologies from Thrasys to the mix so we can expand our base and complement other activities in our region. This will help us to work closely with other RHIOs, Exchanges, Hospitals, providers, and the State through their HIE implementation effort contracted with Harris Corporation and continue to give us exposure to other opportunities beyond Florida."
