Jardine Strategic Fiscal Year Profit Up, Well Placed For Opportunities

Jardine Strategic Holdings Ltd. (J37.SG), an investment holding business, said Friday posted an increase in profit during the year, adding that the group has made a satisfactory start to the year, and is well placed to take advantage of any investment opportunities that may arise.

MAIN FACTS:

-Revenue together with revenue of Jardine Matheson, associates and joint ventures $57.31 million versus $46.96 million

-The company reported adjusted pretax profit of $4.58 during the year ended Dec. 31, 2011, compared with $4.02 million a year earlier.

-Adjusted profit attributable to shareholders $1.58 million versus $1.44 million

-Profit attributable to shareholders funds $3.94 million versus $3.53 million

-Adjusted earnings per share $2.55 versus $2.32

-Earnings per share $6.36 versus $5.69

-Dividends per share $0.225 versus $0.21

-Net asset value per share $48.36 versus $47.53

-In 2012 Hongkong Land is expected to make a lower contribution due to a reduced number of residential completions, while uncertain global economic conditions have the potential to impact some of the group's markets in Asia.

-Jardine Strategic Holdings shares at 0927 GMT up 24 cents, or 0.8%, at 305 cents, valuing the company at $33.91 billion.
