Delicious Iced Lattes, exclusively formulated with 100% Colombian Coffee
and offered in a state-of-the-art package, are now available to
quick-serve restaurants, convenience stores, theme parks, and other
foodservice outlets. The new line of premium Ready-to-Serve coffee
beverages – marketed by Coffeecol under the Juan
Valdez brand and to be introduced and offered at the upcoming
National Restaurant Association Convention (NRA) in Chicago from May 17
to 21, 2008 – will be housed in handsome
cooling units and dispensed from Multiserve SafePaks™,
the latest advance in aseptic packaging and dispensing available
exclusively from International Dispensing Corporation (IDC) (IDND.PK).
Critical to the Multiserve SafePak is The Answer™,
a proprietary dispensing technology that ensures beverage safety,
nutrition, and taste during the prolonged, repeated use. Recently tested
and validated by IEH Laboratories and Consulting Group, The Answer
was recognized in the March 2008 peer-reviewed Journal
of Food Protection, which cited that the IDC tap prevents
microorganisms from compromising product both before and after
commencement of non-refrigerated dispensing. Developed from years of
collaborative R&D by Engineers and Food Scientists, The Answer
creates a barrier to bacteria and other outside contaminants and
preserves beverage sterility. Accordingly, it has set a new standard of
Operator confidence in the beverage supply chain and on-site product
treatment. Beverages can now be shipped, stored, and safely dispensed
without refrigeration. While the new ready-to-serve Juan Valdez
Iced Lattes will be refrigerated at the time of use, The Answer
ensures product safety in the event of power loss, inadvertent operator
mistreatment, or sabotage, and protects product from dangerous
microorganisms that can thrive in refrigerated settings. The Answer
reduces Operator risk and anxiety over beverage handling, storage, and
dispensing – and with less things to worry
about, Operators can focus on satisfying their guests and generating
sales.
In addition, The Multiserve SafePak requires virtually no
maintenance. Compared to other bag-in-box Iced Latte offerings, it
represents an ideal scenario for Operators: speed, convenience, and
minimal labor effort. There are no tubes that must be guided and
threaded through the dispenser or that need to be cut or manipulated to
protect product safety. The Multiserve SafePak is simply loaded
and unloaded like a cartridge, reducing handling costs and virtually
eliminating the chance of operator error.
“By combining the time-honored quality of 100%
Colombian Coffee with cutting-edge, 21st
Century dispensing technology, our new line of Juan Valdez Iced
Lattes is the clear leader in taste, consistency, and food service
convenience,” says Andres Gaviria, President
and CEO of Coffeecol. “This great new package
and delivery system provides Operators and Consumers a new and improved
way to enjoy our delicious Iced Latte products, strengthening and
differentiating the equity of the powerful Juan Valdez brand.”
The new dairy-based coffee beverages, offered in rich French Vanilla ,
Mocha, and Espresso & Cream flavors, will be shipped to foodservice
outlets in 2.5 gallon aseptic Multiserve SafePaks. Coffeecol will
market the new Juan Valdez Iced Lattes throughout various
restaurant and hospitality channels by utilizing its multiple Sales and
Distribution networks.
“Demand for premium coffee products is one of
the hottest consumer trends in the beverage industry, and nearly 9 out
of 10 consumers recognize the Juan Valdez brand-the most beloved
name in coffee worldwide for the past 50 years,”
says Greg Abbott, Founder and Chairman of IDC. “Our
partnership with Coffeecol will allow us to penetrate this rapidly
growing market through multiple entry points, offer consumers a variety
of new premium coffee beverages, and further demonstrate how our
technology can make important contributions to foodservice safety and
convenience.”
“The Colombian Coffee Federation is extremely
pleased with the formulations and quality of the new Iced Latte products
manufactured by our North American licensee Coffeecol,”
said Dr. Gabriel Silva, CEO of the National Federation of Coffee Growers
of Colombia. “We praise the decision of IDC
to award to Coffeecol the Multiserve SafePak and The Answer
technology for use on the Juan Valdez branded products.”
Silva also emphasized the Social Responsibility of the Iced Latte
initiative, adding, “With this new technology
and product offerings we will continue to expand the presence of the Juan
Valdez brand in foodservice and continue our strategy to capture
added value for the Colombian coffee growers.”
The Juan Valdez Iced Latte products will be formally launched at
the Coffeecol booth at the National Restaurant Association Restaurant
Hotel, Motel Show at the McCormick Center in Chicago, IL, on May 17-20,
2008. Coffeecol will be exhibiting at booth 2952 on Level 3B. For more

About the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia
The National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (the Colombian
Coffee Federation) celebrated its 80th Anniversary last year. Founded in
1927, the Federation works to improve the living standard of hundreds of
thousands of coffee farming families by elevating the quality and
perceptions of Colombian coffee. Through ongoing scientific discovery,
creation of a representative Coffee Congress and organizing industry
cooperation, the Federation established the global standard for premium
Colombian coffee. The Juan Valdez character portrays the care,
commitment and passion behind producing 100% Colombian coffee. Nearly 50
years since his introduction, Juan Valdez is still a beloved icon,
universally known with the famous face associated with "rich,
mountain-grown Colombian coffee -- hand-picked at the height of
perfection.” Federation programs continue to
raise the standard of living for its constituent farmers by guaranteeing
fair prices for their crops and creating demand for 100% Colombian
Coffee around the world. Proceeds from exports and brand royalties fund
research on farming techniques, yield management and plant and wildlife
protection to sustain coffee production capability and capacity. Most
importantly, the Federation has supported Colombian communities by
building schools, hospitals, roads, bridges and power and water
facilities to improve the quality of life for the coffee farmer. To
