Harleysville Savings Financial Corporation and Harleysville Savings Bank Announce Changes to Executive Management Team

The Board of Directors of Harleysville Savings Financial Corporation (the “Company”)(OTCQX: HARL), holding company for Harleysville Savings Bank (the “Bank”), announced today that effective September 17, 2014, Brendan J. McGill will assume the role of President and Chief Operating Officer, while Ronald B. Geib will remain Chief Executive Officer. The position of Chief Financial Officer, formerly held by Mr. McGill, will be assumed by M. Shane Michalak. These new positions are for both the Company and the Bank.

With over 20 years of banking experience, Mr. McGill joined the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Harleysville Savings Bank in September, 1999 as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. In January, 2014 Mr. McGill was elected as a director of the Bank and the Company. Mr. McGill is actively involved in the community; he is currently on the Finance Committee at Spruce Lake Retreat, the Human Resources Committee at Lutheran Community at Telford and a member of the North Penn United Way Board. He is also the Past-Chair for the North Penn United Way’s Campaign Cabinet. He also coaches various youth sports in the community. Mr. McGill is married to Jennifer and has five children: Maggie, age 16; Brendan, age 15; Gavin, age 13; Colin, age 12; and Mary Kate age 9.

The position of Chief Financial Officer will be filled by M. Shane Michalak. Mr. Michalak joined the Bank in September 2002, and has served as Vice President, Controller and Treasurer. He started his career in public accounting and has been a CPA for over 18 years. Mr. Michalak received his bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Financial Managers Society of Philadelphia. He is very active in the community and coaches and serves on the board of Harleysville Soccer Association. Mr. Michalak is married to LaVonne and has three children: Jordan, age 11; M. Seth, age 9; and Braeden, age 7.
