Bowl Contenders Win the Checkers(R) Challenge
Double Drive-Thru Raises Over $78,000 for Gators(R) and 'Noles(R) Athletic
Scholarship Funds 


TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 30  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Gators(R) take on the
Hurricanes(R) in the Peach Bowl and the Seminoles(R) take on the
Mountaineers(R) in the Gator Bowl this weekend, but both teams have already won
big in the Checkers(R) Challenge.

"We're all rooting for the 'Noles and the Gators to win their respective bowl
games," said Richard S. Turer, Vice President of Marketing at Checkers Drive-In

competition at our restaurants during the season. We are proud to contribute
over $78,000 to the athletic scholarship funds of these fine universities."

The Checkers Challenge contributed a portion of its proceeds to the schools'
athletic scholarship funds through the sale of large drinks served in
collectible cups and special Gator/Seminole Combo meals offered at
participating Checkers locations throughout Florida. This initiative, combined
with a Corporate pledge to each university's food service-related educational
programs, brings the total contributions to over $125,000 to date.
