Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA (CO.FR) and its parent company Rallye SA (RAL.FR) said Thursday they have jointly filed a criminal complaint following what they called attacks and misinformation that hurt their share prices.
"For several months now, Rallye and Casino have been the subject of violent attacks and misinformation campaigns orchestrated notably by hedge funds in order to artificially reduce the value of their shares and destabilize the companies, their employees and shareholders," the companies said.
Casino has previously complained of being the subject of "speculative manipulation," with its share price down about 23% since the beginning of the year.
The complaint, filed with the financial public prosecutor, is for "price manipulation, dissemination of false or misleading information, and insider trading," the companies said.
