Pricewaterhouse Coopers’ recent report, “Global Entertainment and Media Outlook,” projects that e-books will make up 50 percent of the $21 billion U.S. consumer book market by 2016. The explosive popularity of e-readers such as the Kindle Fire, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPad and Barnes & Noble Nook have already sparked a major surge in e-book purchasing, and the numbers are trending up.

Digital distribution could also make it easier for a new company like ASCC to publish and sell popular titles without cutting deals with major retailers or publishing houses. The company believes that this model may make its books profitable more quickly. Unlike its competitors, ASCC offers investors the chance to share in the potential profits reaped by a runaway best-seller such as Fifty Shades of Grey.
