Groupon is the leader in the social coupon sphere, and in its four years in business, it’s seen $1.6 billion in sales, according to CEO Andrew Mason. The company is on pace to do over $2 billion in sales by the end of 2012 and currently has $1.2 billion cash on its balance sheet. Groupon’s main competitor, Living Social, is hot on its heels and growing fast.

Although women make up a large percentage of these giants’ customers, ASCC believes a tremendous opportunity lies in aggressively targeting women looking for goods and services beyond fake tans and nail salons.

“The consumer research that we’re conducting tells us that women are interested in seeing more daily deals related to health, parenting and even dating,” Morrissey said. “Groupon has shown us how quickly a new company can grow with the right idea, and we believe that there are lucrative opportunities in this space that they haven’t even begun to explore.”

“This could be an exciting new direction for ASCC that we feel has major profit potential,” she added.
