ROYAL LONDON UK EQUITY & INCOME TRUST PLC ("the Company")

DISCLOSURE OF INTERESTS IN SHARES


The Company has been notified that on 15 October 2003, Aberdeen Asset Managers
Limited ("AAML") sold 1,000,000 ordinary 1p shares in the Company on behalf of
The Aberdeen High Income Trust plc.
As a result of this sale, The Aberdeen High Income Trust Plc now holds 2,006,768
ordinary 1p shares in the Company, representing 2.87% of the issued share
capital of that class.


As a result of these transactions, the aggregate number of shares managed by
AAML and its associated companies has decreased to 10,732,174 ordinary 1p shares
of each, representing 15.33% of the issued share capital of that class.
