Purchase of own securities

The Board of Royal London Growth & Income Trust plc announces that on 5
September 2003 it made a market purchase of 1,000,000 geared ordinary shares of
one penny each in the capital of the Company (SEDOL No.02131547), representing
0.93% of the current issued geared ordinary share capital of the Company, for
cancellation at a price of 27 pence per geared ordinary share.

Following cancellation, 106,231,107 geared ordinary shares in the Company will
remain in issue.
