BEIJING, Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Youku.com, Inc. (NYSE: YOKU), China's leading Internet television company, is hosting the "Live Your Dreams - Youku Talents" gala in Beijing this evening. Famous comedian Degang Guo and TV hostess Ada Yan Liu emceed the gala, which will honor 24 award winners known as Youku Talents. The Youku Talents are ordinary people from mainland China and Taiwan who use Youku as a platform to share their extraordinary talents on the Internet.
The gala coincided with the airing of the last episode of "Live Your Dreams", a new Youku talent show series in which Youku Talents compete in front of a panel of judges. The first 12 episodes of the series drew broad attention online, receiving a total of more than 60 million views following its launch this spring.
"Youku Talents has been a part of Youku's identity ever since we launched," said Sunny Xiangyang Zhu, Chief Editor of Youku. "Tonight's gala is a chance for us to celebrate the evolving role of Youku Talents, and to highlight the way in which we blend the passion of Youku Talents with our professional production capabilities demonstrated in 'Live Your Dreams.'"

After the viral success of grassroots talents like the street busker Xidan Girl and the pint-sized Michael Jackson impersonator Xiao Bao in 2009, the Company named 2009 the "Year of Youku Talents" and has since held annual events to celebrate the dynamism and creativity of its users. Youku Talents have been special guests to influential TV programs such as CCTV Spring Festival Gala and the Ellen Degeneres Show.
