LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Beginning today, ExpressJet Airlines starts ticket sales from Long Beach Airport, (LGB), for non-stop service to: Reno-Tahoe (RNO), Fresno (FAT), and Monterey, Calif. (MRY). "We're pleased to welcome ExpressJet, one of the nation's largest regional airlines, and a two-time Fortune Magazine Most Admired Airline, to Long Beach," said Christine Andersen, Long Beach Airport Manager. "ExpressJet is introducing three new destinations that have never had non-stop service from Long Beach before, and that brings more choices for our vacation and business travelers." Jim Ream, ExpressJet President and CEO, said Long Beach is the right-sized market for ExpressJet's fleet of 50-seat Embraer 145 aircraft. "We can provide value by saving our Long Beach customers time and making their travel more convenient," Ream said. "Now, our customers will be able to relax on a non- stop flight, in a comfortable leather seat with more than 100 channels of free XM(R) Satellite Radio." ExpressJet aircraft are quiet, fuel efficient, and configured with no middle seat, assigning every passenger a seat on the aisle, window, or both. ExpressJet branded service delivers an improved customer experience with valet carry-on bag service and complimentary name-brand snacks with full service meal options on longer flights. ExpressJet expects to start flying from Long Beach on Nov. 11, in time for the winter holiday travel season. Adding service to Long Beach, Santa Barbara and Reno-Tahoe will bring the total number of U.S. markets with ExpressJet non-stop flights to 26. Ream said he was pleased with the progress ExpressJet has made since introducing its new network earlier this year, and he expects ExpressJet branded service to be successful. "As demand for regional air service continues to climb, ExpressJet will continue to look for new ways we can bring customers a better experience when they fly," Ream said. Another way ExpressJet is making travel more convenient is with its JetSet(SM) frequent flier program, which rewards customers for how often they fly, not how far they go. JetSet members also can take advantage of special discounts and promotions courtesy of the airline's Preferred Partnership with Avis Rent A Car and Budget Rent A Car. With its entrance into the Long Beach market, ExpressJet plans to hire 10 to 15 employees and invest more than $325,000 in airport facilities and equipment. ExpressJet schedules and fares are available for sale through most distribution channels for service originating from six markets: Los Angeles/Ontario, Sacramento, San Diego, San Antonio, Austin and New Orleans, to destinations in: Long Beach, Albuquerque, Bakersfield, Birmingham, Boise, Colorado Springs, El Paso, Fresno, Jacksonville, Fla., Kansas City, Mo., Louisville, Monterey, Calif., Oklahoma City, Omaha, Raleigh/Durham, Reno- Tahoe, Santa Barbara, Spokane, Tucson, and Tulsa. Booking and updated flight information is available on http://www.xjet.com/ and through most travelers' preferred providers including travel agencies and online distributors.
