Whiting Announces Appointment of Jack R. Ekstrom as Vice President, Corporate and Government Relations

DENVER, Jan. 19  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Whiting Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:WLL) announced the appointment of Jack R. Ekstrom as Vice President, Corporate and Government Relations.  Mr. Ekstrom joined the company in 2008 as Executive Director, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations.  From 2000 to 2008 he served in management positions in corporate communications and government affairs for Pioneer Natural Resources, Evergreen Resources and Forest Oil.  He is a Director of the Colorado Oil & Gas Association and the Independent Petroleum Association of the Mountain States.  He is past chairman of the Western Business Roundtable and past president of the Denver Petroleum Club.  Mr. Ekstrom has 35 years experience in the oil and natural gas industry.
