Trizec Adds Respected Southern California Veteran to Serve Portfolio
Needs; Continues Search for Head of Region
Trizec Properties, Inc. (NYSE:TRZ) today announced the appointment
of John R. Barganski as vice president, leasing of the company's
Southern California Region, effective January 2006.
Barganski, who possesses more than two decades of commercial real
estate experience throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, will be
responsible for leasing Trizec's expanding Southern California Region.
Trizec recently announced plans to purchase 13 of Arden Realty's
properties in a $1.63 billion transaction expected to close prior to
the end of the second quarter 2006. Upon closing of this transaction,
Trizec's local portfolio will nearly double in size to a total of 18
properties comprising more than 8.6 million square feet of office
space concentrated in downtown Los Angeles, West Los Angeles and San
Diego.
"We identified Southern California as an attractive market with
sound fundamentals, and an area where we'd like to grow. In the past
18 months, we've added two high-quality assets to our Southern
California portfolio with Bank of America Plaza and Figueroa at
Wilshire. Now, we've added another great asset to the company with the
hiring of a strong leasing leader," said Bill Tresham, Trizec's
executive vice president & chief operating officer. "With the Arden
acquisition approaching, there couldn't be a more exciting time to
bring on a respected professional to uphold Trizec's high-level of
customer and broker service. John's knowledge of the market and proven
track record as an equitable dealmaker will make him a good addition
to our team."
In his new position, Barganski will assume oversight of Trizec's
leasing team in the Southern California Region. He will report to
Tresham, in a new regional structure for Trizec which adds Southern
California to its three other regions, including the Eastern, Central
and Southwest Regions. Meanwhile, Trizec continues its search for a
regional head of the Southern California Region, to whom both
Barganski and Patrick Lacey, Trizec's vice president and general
manager-operations, will eventually report.
"I'm proud to be joining the Trizec team and this will be a
wonderful opportunity to be working again in downtown Los Angeles,
where I worked for 15 years, and a great challenge to expand into West
Los Angeles and San Diego once the Arden transaction is completed,"
said Barganski. "Over the years I have formed a number of great
working relationships and friendships with brokers and major tenants
in Southern California. It is important for me to be part of an
organization, like Trizec, that values and prioritizes those long-term
relationships that ultimately tie to leasing successes."
Barganski joins Trizec from C.J. Segerstom & Sons, where for the
past six years he oversaw leasing and marketing as the director of the
two-million-square-foot The Offices of South Coast Plaza complex in
Orange County, Calif. His vast experience in the commercial real
estate industry also has included positions as partner/vice
president-marketing and leasing with PacTen Partners in Los Angeles,
director-agency leasing group with Cushman & Wakefield in Los Angeles,
vice president-marketing and leasing with Premisys in Los Angeles,
marketing-leasing director for Citicorp Plaza & 777 Tower in Los
Angeles, and as a broker with Grubb & Ellis in Los Angeles.
A graduate of the University of Southern California, Barganski
holds a bachelor of science degree in real estate finance, as well as
a certificate from USC's inaugural real estate development program.
Barganski is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and a member
of the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties
(NAIOP).
