Cable & Wireless Worldwide PLC (CW.LN), Wednesday confirmed that discussions with Vodafone Group PLC (VOD.LN), are ongoing, adding that Vodafone must, by a deadline of not later than 1600 GMT on April 19, either announce a firm intention to make an offer for Cable & Wireless or announce that it does not intend to make an offer.
MAIN FACTS:
-There can be no certainty that any offer will be made, nor as to the terms of any offer.
-This deadline will only be extended with the consent of the Takeover Panel.
-Cable&Wireless Worldwide notes the announcement Wednesday by Tata Communications Ltd. (500483.BY) stating that it does not intend to make an offer for Cable&Wireless.
-Cable & Wireless Worldwide shares closed Wednesday at 37.1 pence, valuing the company at GBP992.5 million.
