Sizzler Celebrates the New Year With All-New Location
First Casual Dining Restaurant to Open in San Diego's Imperial Marketplace
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Sizzler today announced the opening of its
latest restaurant in a San Diego neighborhood that is enjoying recent
redevelopment. Owned and operated by Sizzler franchisee BMW Management, Inc.,
the new Sizzler is located in Southeastern San Diego's Imperial Marketplace,
near one of the city's most diverse communities. It is the area's first casual
dining restaurant.
"We couldn't pass up the opportunity to be a part of this vital redevelopment,"
said Gary Myers, president and CEO of BMW Management, the largest of Sizzler's
franchisees. "Our new Sizzler fulfills a real dining need in the local area by
providing a casual, comfortable, sit-down restaurant that offers great grilled
food and value along with convenient and efficient service people need for
their fast-paced lives."
Located at 4445 Imperial Avenue in San Diego, the newest Sizzler location
features a completely new design with exhibition-style cooking where diners can
watch their food being prepared. One of the largest Sizzler restaurants ever
built in the United States, the San Diego location can seat up to 244 guests
and will offer a special dining area for large groups of 200 or more. Other
highlights include daily fresh-cut USDA Choice steaks, pasta dishes, seafood
selections, chicken, award-winning BBQ ribs, Sizzler's famous salad bar,
senior's and kid's menus, and specialty treats such as malts, shakes, floats
and banana splits.
The all-new Sizzler fits well into the Imperial Marketplace, a
300,000-square-foot retail center that is anchored by Home Depot, which opened
in January 2002. One of the projects of the Southeastern Economic Development
Corporation (SEDC), the marketplace is an integral part of the corporation's
Central Imperial Redevelopment Project Area.
"This new restaurant displays an enlightened strategy on the part of Sizzler
and BMW Management," said Carolyn Y. Smith, president of SEDC. "Although this
area has been traditionally underserved, Sizzler sees the value in being
located in a key corridor that links downtown San Diego and the new Petco Park
all the way eastward to the City of Lemon Grove. Residents will appreciate the
easy access, and we appreciate Sizzler being a part of this redevelopment
effort."
Just as this San Diego neighborhood is enjoying a reemergence, so too is the
Sizzler brand. During the past three years, Sizzler has overhauled its menu,
redesigned its buildings, launched a nationwide remodeling program and improved
its operations and training.
"This new location really represents the Sizzler of the future," said Ken Cole,
Sizzler president and CEO. "Both regular guests and customers who may not have
been to Sizzler in a while will be pleasantly surprised by the many
improvements we have made."
