Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE:SY), the global leader in
mobile messaging services, today announced executive management
appointments and creation of a new business unit that promises to
capitalize and expand upon the company’s
leadership in the mobile messaging space.
“We enter 2008 as the global leader in SMS and
MMS interoperability and global provider of mobile services to
enterprises, brands and content providers,”
said Marty Beard, president, Sybase 365. “We
remain totally committed to continuing to add value and growth in these
core business segments. We are also excited to push forward into two
emerging mobile segments – Mobile Commerce
and Mobile Advertising – that will help create
new revenue streams for our operator and brand and content provider
customers as well as new enterprise customers.”
Howard Stevens, previously Vice President, EMEA, has been promoted to
Senior Vice President, International Operations. In his new role, Mr.
Stevens will continue to lead the EMEA region as well as take on
responsibility for all Asia-Pacific field operations. “There
are exciting synergies between these regions in both A2P and P2P
messaging,” said Mr. Stevens. “Our
success is without doubt born out of motivated, high-quality individuals
who will work even more closely together throughout 2008 to further
drive market growth.”
Matthew Talbot, Vice President, Asia-Pacific, for the past 4 years has
assumed a new role as Vice President, mCommerce. In this role, Mr.
Talbot will head up a newly created business unit within Sybase 365 that
will focus on building global leadership in mobile banking and mobile
payments. “This young, but rapidly growing
segment, is already providing glimpses into what will certainly become a
major mode of day-to-day commerce for billions of consumers worldwide,”
said Mr. Talbot. “Sybase 365 has an early
foot-hold in this market and will become a major enabler of the
mCommerce future, as a trusted partner for financial institutions,
mobile operators and merchants.”
Gregory Dunn, Vice President, Americas, has assumed additional
responsibility for directing Sybase 365’s
mobile advertising business. Mr. Dunn and his team are uniquely
positioned to extend Sybase 365’s advertising
offering via the operator, content provider and advertising agency
channels. “We will re-fresh our presence in
the emerging space of mobile advertising by extending our AvantGo™
business into a broader multi-modal offering, providing new solutions to
our P2P and A2P customers in North America, and across the world,”
said Mr. Dunn.
