                 SurfControl plc ("SurfControl"/the "Company")

                 Annual Grant of Options to Executive Directors

SurfControl plc announced today that at a board and remuneration committee
meeting on 3rd July 2003, at which the committee reviewed the annual grant of
options, the Executive Directors were granted options under the Company's share
option scheme. Details of the options are given below, and may vest subject to
the achievement of Company financial performance criteria over financial years
2004 and 2005. The options were granted at a price of 647.5p, which was the
closing middle market price on 3rd July 2003. The entire Executive remuneration
plan will be subject to shareholder vote when a resolution to receive the
directors' Remuneration Report for the financial year ending 30 June 2003 is
included in the ordinary business of the Annual General Meeting, to be held in
October, 2003.
