Hovensa (HES) on Jan. 18 said it will permanently shut its 350,000-barrel-a-day oil refinery on the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Croix by mid-February due to economics. The facility will be converted to a products storage terminal.
Alon USA Energy Inc (ALJ) halted operations at its Bakersfield, Calif. refinery for at least a month due to economics a local news report said on Jan. 15
A fire on Jan. 15 at an office building at ConocoPhillips' (COP) Wilmington, Calif., refinery didn't impact operations.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on Jan. 13 said four weeks of planned turnaround maintenance at its Wilmington, Calif., crude and coker units got underway. The entire plant will be shut for the duration of the work.
CVR Energy (CVI) late on Jan. 12 shut the 70,000-barrel-a-day crude unit at its recently-acquired refinery in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, a filing to the National Response Center said. Emissions associated with the event could last three to four days. The company doesn't comment on day-to-day operations.
Citgo Corp. on Jan 10 began planned turnaround maintenance at its Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery East Plant crude unit, the company said on Jan. 11. The duration of the work wasn't specified.
ConocoPhillips on Jan. 10 said planned maintenance is under way at its Lake Charles refinery in Westlake, La., but didn't disclose the specific units involved or the duration of the work.
Valero Energy Corp. on Jan. 9 said crude oil throughput rates at its oil refinery on the island country of Aruba have been reduced by an unspecified amount for the past several weeks due to economics. The company is evaluating its options for the refinery on an ongoing basis.
Valero Energy Corp. on Jan. 9 said the FCCU at its oil refinery in Meraux, La., will be shut while planned turnaround maintenance is performed at the plant's alkylation unit. The alkylation unit turnaround started last week.
Routine maintenance at a FCCU and alkylation unit is on going at BP PLC's (BP, BP.LN) oil refinery in Texas City, Texas, a person familiar with operations at the plant said on Jan. 9. The work got under way earlier this month, according to traders doing business with BP, but it isn't clear when the unit will be returned to service.
