announced today that it will participate in two upcoming investor conferences. 
Peter Dunn, President and Chief Operating Officer of The Steak n Shake Company,

The first investor conference is the SG Cowen Securities Second Annual Consumer
Conference to be held on January 13th - 14th, 2004 at The Westin New York at
Times Square, 270 West 43rd Street, New York, NY.

The second investor conference is the 6th Annual ICR XChange to be held on
January 15th - 16th, 2004 at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa, 21500 Pacific
Coast Highway, Huntington Beach, CA.
