Siemens Demonstrates New Version of Multimodality Cardiology Image Management Solution at ACC 2008

Siemens Showcases Integrated Approach to Cardiovascular Image and Information Management

syngo Dynamics, which is being showcased in the Siemens ACC booth (#3006), is a multi-frame review and archiving system using evidence-based reporting to improve the efficiency of clinical procedures. The solution offers immediate access to cardiology and ultrasound imaging studies and reports at diagnostic workstations from anywhere in the hospital, helping to improve workflow efficiency for all members of the care team who need to consult cardiology imaging studies. By creating a filmless and paperless environment in echocardiography, cath labs and ultrasound departments, syngo Dynamics enables healthcare facilities to evolve to the digital hospital model.

The newest version, syngo Dynamics v7, will offer enhanced evidence-based reporting, image compression, improved measurement capabilities, support for the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Displayable Report profile (DRPT), and tighter integration with hemodynamic systems from third-party companies.

Workflow Benefits

The IHE DRPT profile provides a methodology to create, finalize, archive, read, revise and distribute cardiology clinical reports from the department to the enterprise. With tighter integration to third-party hemodynamic systems, syngo Dynamics v7 users will not have to enter blood circulation data manually in the patient report. The patient's complete hemodynamic profile will be available to physicians as part of the report and this coupling could lead to improved decision making especially in the treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF), since cardiovascular physiology, such as blood flow, is an important component in the diagnosis of CHF. The diagnosis is further supplemented by a physical exam, echocardiography, electrophysiology, angiography and/or chest X-rays. As a multi-modality image management system, syngo Dynamics allows physicians to manage the studies of patients who may have CHF. According to recent reports, people older than 40 have a one-in-five chance of developing CHF. About 5 million people in the United States already have CHF and about 550,000 people develop CHF each year.

CVIS Integration

With automatically populated hemodynamic data on the syngo Dynamics workstation, cardiologists can review images and generate a report with the system's evidence-based Digital Structured Reporting module. Additional patient data is also available on the syngo Dynamics workstation through the Cardiovascular EMR component of the Soarian(R) Cardiology cardiovascular information system (CVIS), providing a complete continuum of care view of the patient.

Soarian Cardiology, which was the recipient of a 2007 Frost & Sullivan Excellence in Technology Award, features dynamic worklists and advanced documentation tools to help organize and establish priorities for required tasks and reduce reporting errors.
