The service agreement, let through a master contract with DEL-JEN, Inc.,* is performance-based and guarantees time-to-problem resolution, indoor air quality comfort parameter--out-of-prescribed-limit reporting, and timeliness of preventive maintenance action. Siemens technicians will conduct the daily monitoring and maintenance of all direct digital control hardware and related devices. "By engaging Siemens to conduct this work," says John Remich, director of the facilities management division for Naval Facilities Engineering Command, "We knew there would be a seamless protocol developed and an end result of real energy savings for the base." Remich, along with Jim Kane, deputy public works officer, work under the direction of USN Commander Kristina Nielsen, publics works officer for NAVFAC. "Siemens has served PNAS for more than 13 years and now has 65 buildings with its controls and automation systems onboard," says Siemens Building Technologies branch general manager Bobby Marcus. "This contract reveals the confidence the Navy has in us and demonstrates Siemens commitment to supporting the entire base with services and technologies that continue to deliver substantive, lasting improvements to the base's facilities. We're all quite proud to be assisting the U.S. defense infrastructure with this project." For example, by integrating building systems base-wide, Siemens has been able to generate greater uptime for the overall system, while helping PNAS save energy and lower its utility costs. As a leading provider of energy and environmental solutions, building controls, fire safety and security systems solutions, Siemens Building Technologies, Inc., makes buildings comfortable, safe, secure and less costly to operate. With U.S. headquarters in Buffalo Grove, Ill., Siemens Building Technologies employs 7,400 people and provides a full range of services and solutions from more than 100 locations coast-to-coast. Worldwide, the company has 28,000 employees and operates from more than 500 locations in 51 countries. *DEL-JEN, INC.
