The Shaw Group Inc. (NYSE:SGR) today announced it will change its ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange from “SGR” to “SHAW,” effective at the start of trading on Aug. 21, 2009. The change of the ticker symbol is a seamless process managed by the New York Stock Exchange such that trading of the stock is unaffected.

To mark the occasion, company officials and Shaw’s board of directors will join J.M. Bernhard Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer, as he rings the opening bell on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange that day.

“The Shaw name is recognized widely across our industry and around the globe. Changing our ticker symbol to SHAW extends this recognition and links our stock listing with our identity,” said J.M. Bernhard Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer of Shaw. “The new symbol helps our clients and shareholders better identify our stock and our company.”
