Jane E. Hood Named Vice President of Marketing of Standard
Insurance Company's Employee Benefits Division 


PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 10  /PRNewswire/ -- Standard Insurance Company ("The
Standard"), a subsidiary of StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. ("StanCorp") (NYSE:
SFG) named Jane E. Hood vice president of Marketing for the Employee Benefits
Division.

"Jane's experience and background complement our continuing efforts to build on
our strong market position in Employee Benefits," said Greg Ness, senior vice
president, Employee Benefits. "Her demonstrated success in the financial
services sector will support The Standard's vision to lead the industry in
service and expertise."

In her new role, Hood leads the marketing effort for the Employee Benefits
products which include group life, group long term and short term disability,
and group dental insurance. She is responsible for marketing strategy and
communications, product development, e-business and strategic services. Hood's
experience includes eight years working for American Express in New York and
London in a variety of roles. Her responsibilities included leading the
company's international merchant marketing and client management strategy
efforts, directing various business strategy initiatives and guiding
value-based communications and pricing efforts. In addition, Hood was
responsible for leading product innovation and brand valuation for MasterCard
International.

Hood earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and holds a
master's in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
