Shell Marine Products (US) Company Awarded Significant Department
of Defense Contract
HOUSTON, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Shell Marine Products* (US) Company (SMP) has
been awarded a Department of Defense contract to support more than 150
government-owned ships in the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command (MSC) fleet
worldwide. The company competed for the right to supply marine lubricants and
provide waste oil disposal services and related engineering support services.
The contract value is approximately $8.6 million and work will be performed in
various locations around the world for a period of one year, starting January
1, 2005.
The contract represents a significant achievement for the growth aspirations of
SMP. It includes four one-year options, which if exercised, would bring the
total cumulative estimated value of this contract to approximately $46.5
million.
SMP will dedicate existing and new resources to the fulfillment of this
contract, which the company believes will further cement the position it and
its affiliates hold as leaders in the global marine lubricants market. Michiel
