Pannaway Technologies Announces Video Partnership with net.com
Partnership Allows Telecommunications Service Providers to Seamlessly Deploy
IP-based Video Services in Legacy ATM environments
FREMONT, Calif., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Pannaway Technologies, Inc.,
designers and developers of converged broadband voice, video and data
platforms, today announced a partnership with net.com (NYSE:NWK) that enables
telecommunications service providers to deliver high-revenue, IP-based video
services in legacy ATM network environments, preserving existing infrastructure
investments and lowering ongoing equipment costs.
Pannaway uses net.com's SCREAM platform to provide telcos with a fully
interoperable, easy-to-install migration path for the deployment of new IP-
based video networks. The partnership enables telcos to realize the documented
benefits of IP while maintaining existing investments in legacy ATM
infrastructures.
"IP is widely recognized as the future transport mechanism for the deployment
of high quality video services and we are excited to work with Pannaway to
deliver extended value to the telco community," said Bert Whyte, CEO of
net.com. "Our SCREAM platform cost-effectively creates the bridge between
legacy ATM infrastructures and emerging IP-based networks for the delivery of
high-revenue applications such as Video-on-Demand and High- Definition
Television."
The SCREAM platform is currently the only broadband remote access server (BRAS)
available with a full ATM switching architecture. SCREAM in conjunction with
Pannaway's Service Convergence Network (SCN(TM)) seamlessly interoperates with
existing ATM networks for the delivery of IP Video over DSL. By leveraging the
SCREAM platform, Pannaway's telco customer base can recognize the benefits of
IP including a reduced cost structure, increased bandwidth (including Gigabit
Ethernet), simplified provisioning, and enhanced manageability.
"While ATM technology has proven that it can support high bandwidth
applications like VoD, HDTV, and high-speed Internet access, exorbitant
equipment and provisioning costs make the technology a rather unpopular choice
for future build outs," said Mike Skubicz, CTO of Pannaway. "The
net.com/Pannaway partnership enables telcos to leverage fully functional ATM
networks that are already in place while future-proofing their footprint with
emerging IP technology."
net.com' s SCREAM platform is now an integral part of the Pannaway SCN, a suite
of products that enables telcos to build out a network for a successful Triple
Play delivery of converged broadband services. As the industry's first
carrier-class end-to-end IP solution, Pannaway's SCN gives telcos the power to
expand their service offerings on this more efficient and scalable platform.
