On Thursday, December 16th, 99¢ Only Stores® will proudly participate in Heal the Bay’s annual “A Day Without a Bag” campaign, to promote the use of reusable bags and environmental responsibility. “We are proud to participate in this education campaign and day of action, which encourages shoppers to adopt reusable bags as part of their everyday habits. In addition to incredible deals on holiday goods, as well as quality consumable items such as produce, customers can get added value by knowing their minimum $19.99 purchase will help the environment,” says Eric Schiffer, CEO.

This is the third consecutive year that 99¢ Only Stores participates in the Los Angeles county program, and it is the first year the initiative will include San Diego County. The San Diego Regional “A Day Without A Bag” initiative, is a collaborative effort by the following key environmental organizations: San Diego Coastkeeper, I Love A Clean San Diego, Solana Center for Environmental Innovation and Surfrider San Diego, in partnership with region governments (city and county) throughout the San Diego Region. The San Diego program was modeled directly off of the program established by Heal the Bay in 2007.

Last year, 99¢ Only Stores gave away over 9,999 bags in L.A. County alone. This year, to further help the community, the minimum purchase to get a free bag has been reduced by ten dollars.
