Shanghai Blue Light Selects Aeronex(R) Gas Purification System
Hydrogen Purification System to be used in LED Manufacturing Process; Mykrolis
Expands Presence in Emerging China Market
BILLERICA, Mass., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mykrolis Corporation
(NYSE:MYK), a leading supplier of components and subsystems to the
semiconductor industry, today announced it has shipped an Aeronex(R) Gas
Purification System to the main production facility of Shanghai Blue Light
Technology, a leading light-emitting diodes (LED) manufacturer, located in
Shanghai, China. The Aeronex EGPS8 H Series for hydrogen purification will be
installed on a metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOVCD) system for
gallium nitride-based LEDs in late 2004. The system will be used for the
expansion of Shanghai Blue Light's LED manufacturing lines later this year and
for research and development.
"Mykrolis has developed a cost-effective system that can remove harmful
contaminants in this application," said Jay Hamidi, manager of the gas
microcontamination control business at Mykrolis. "We are pleased that a major
LED manufacturer such as Shanghai Blue Light has selected our purification
system. Their decision to use it for the pilot production of LEDs is another
example of our strong momentum in the emerging Chinese LED market."
"After careful evaluation of gas purification systems, we were impressed with
the leading edge technology in the Aeronex Gas Purification System and its
lower cost-of-ownership," said James Dong, vice president, Shanghai Blue Light.
"We are confident this purification system will address the recurring
challenges involved in the removal of harmful contaminants throughout the LED
manufacturing process."
Aeronex Gas Purification Systems are dual-bed and self-regenerating, and they
deliver a continuous supply of pure gas while utilizing Aeronex ambient
temperature purification technology. They operate at a low-pressure drop, and
offer a lower cost-of-ownership than palladium cells. The stand-alone systems
feature a user-friendly, touch-screen PC and may be configured to order with
multiple options such as a breakthrough indicator, manual or automatic bypass
valves. Aeronex systems have been proven to remove contaminants to sub-ppb
(part-per-billion) levels, with some to ppt (part-per-trillion) levels, needed
to purge contaminants and protect the process. They are available in several
different gas series to generate ultra high purity H2, NH3, and inert gases.
