OLD MUTUAL SOUTH AFRICA TRUST PLC (the "Company")


The Company has today been notified that Metage Capital Limited, on behalf of
Metage Funds Limited (representing 50% of the holding) and Metage Special 
Emerging Markets Fund Limited (representing 50% of the holding), has purchased 
6,500,000 ordinary 10p shares in the Company, representing 12.42% of the 
Company's issued share capital.

Metage Capital Limited made a further acquisition of 1,500,000 rights over
shares in the form of a contract for difference, on behalf of Metage Funds 
Limited (representing 50% of the rights) and Metage Special Emerging Markets 
Fund Limited (representing 50% of the rights), representing 2.87% of the 
Company's issued share capital.

As a result of these transactions, Metage Capital Limited now has an aggregate
interest in 8,000,000 ordinary 10p shares in the Company, representing 15.29% 
of the Company's issued share capital.
