      Western Asset Municipal Partners Fund II Inc., formerly known as Salomon 
      Brothers Municipal Partners Fund II Inc., which is traded on the New 
      York Stock Exchange under the symbol “MPT,” 
      announced today the results of the votes cast at the Fund’s 
      annual meeting of shareholders held on October 9, 2006.
    
    
      Leslie H. Gelb and William R. Hutchinson were elected as Class I 
      Directors of Western Asset Municipal Partners Fund II Inc. by owners of 
      the Fund’s common and preferred stock to hold 
      office until the annual meeting of stockholders in the year 2009 or 
      thereafter when respective successors are duly elected and qualified.
    
    
      Dr. Riordan Roett was elected as a Class I Director of Western Asset 
      Municipal Partners Fund II Inc. by owners of the Fund’s 
      preferred stock to hold office until the annual meeting of stockholders 
      in the year 2009 or thereafter when respective successors are duly 
      elected and qualified.
