N.Technology Invests in MSC.Software MasterKey Licensing System
to Improve Virtual Product Development Process for Race Cars
SANTA ANA, Calif., April 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MSC.Software Corp. , the
leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD) products including
simulation software and services, today announced that N.Technology, an Italian
developer of race cars and part of FIAT AUTO, is expanding its use of
MSC.Software products under the MSC.MasterKey license system. A long time user
of ADAMS/Car and ADAMS/Motorsport, N.Technology will now integrate MSC.Nastran,
MSC.Patran and ADAMS/Engine into their product development process to optimize
the performance characteristics of their race cars.
"The MSC.ADAMS product suite has excellent traction within the motor sports
industry, especially for Formula1 racing, rally championships in Europe and
South America and the Champ Car series in the United States. These car teams
have directly correlated performance improvements with the use of products like
ADAMS/Car and we are extremely pleased to see that these successes are
resulting in increased investments with MSC.Software," says Frank Perna,
chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software. "Virtual Product
Development isn't an individual product you can buy out of the box. It is an
environment that is designed to evolve and build upon product development
success and we look forward to working with other racing teams around the world
as they integrate more MSC.Software products and services into their vehicle
design and race preparation processes."
"Being successful in the international motor sports panorama, the need to speed
up our cars determines our business decisions," said Andrea Adamo at
N.Technology. "To make a race car a winning one, fast decisions have to be
made regarding how a car can be fitted to a specific track or which suspension
or engine is the right one for a certain race. We have to do that virtually
since we don't always have the time to build a prototype and test it before we
send the car on the track. Changes to the cars often have to be made in less
than two weeks and we work on the principle that the results generated after
the race can always help us before the next race. With Virtual Product
Development we can run sensitivity studies with hundreds of different
configurations in a matter of minutes."
"Our experience with the MSC.ADAMS products showed us that the only way to meet
our goals is the virtual way. We switched to the MasterKey License because we
realized that a token-based offering could help us to get more out of our
existing licenses and gives us the possibility to add more tools to our Virtual
Product Development process at convenient conditions. The software we need has
to be as reliable, versatile and flexible as the cars we want to develop with
it. With MSC.Nastran, MSC.Patran, and ADAMS/Engine we now have included tools
in our development process which are expected to help us to achieve excellence
in race car development," Mr. Adamo concluded.
The MSC.Software MasterKey license system (formerly known as VPD Campus License
System), gives engineers the possibility to choose from more than 250
market-leading software packages available today. With those software tools
engineers may assess the complete functional performance of their products,
from strength and durability characteristics to motion and controls, vibration
and acoustics, thermal effects, and more, without having to purchase individual
product licenses. Tailored to the unique environment of every customer, the
MasterKey License System maximizes productivity and engineering budgets by
providing full-range simulation capabilities and flexible product management.
