MSC.Software Partners With PETRONAS Research & Scientific
Services Sdn Bhd (PRSS) to Improve Virtual Product Development
Research and Development Arm of Leading Oil and Gas Company Adopts
MSC.MasterKey Licensing System for Virtual Product Development and Assessment
SANTA ANA, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MSC.Software Corp.
(NYSE:MNS), the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD)
technologies including simulation software and services, today announced that
PETRONAS Research and & Scientific Services Sdn Bhd (PRSS), which is the
research arm and technology provider within the PETRONAS (Petroliam Nasional
Bhd) group of companies, has purchased the MSC.MasterKey Licensing System. The
decision to adopt the MSC.MasterKey System was based upon the work of a group
of composite engineers who have been extensively using MSC.Software products
for analysis of composite components and structures such as storage tanks,
pipelines, and automotive engine components. The MSC.MasterKey Licensing
System gives engineers at PETRONAS the ability to take advantage of the breadth
and depth of MSC.Software's portfolio of simulation tools within a flexible
licensing system, allowing them to use whatever MSC.Software simulation tools
they need, wherever and whenever they need them.
"The petroleum and energy industries have very strict engineering requirements,
including stress and fatigue-life testing, that can only be met through the use
of virtual product development tools," said Frank Perna, Chairman and CEO of
MSC.Software. "The MasterKey Licensing System is an excellent way for large
R&D organizations like PRSS to derive process efficiencies from a common set of
tools and processes. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with
PETRONAS engineers in Asia and around the world."
"We have selected the MasterKey concept for our virtual product development and
assessment due to it flexibility and cost effectiveness. The MasterKey enables
us to use a suite of compatible simulation tools anywhere within the
Asia-Pacific region, and beyond if necessary, thus providing us the flexibility
to simultaneously use a number of packages for projects conducted at more than
one site," said Dr. K.H. Leong, who leads the composite activities at PRSS."
In fact, the MSC.Software MasterKey license system (formerly known as VDP
Campus License System), gives engineers the possibility to choose from more
than 250 market-leading software packages available today. With those software
tools engineers may assess the complete functional performance of their
products, from strength and durability characteristics to motion and controls,
vibration and acoustics, thermal effects, and more, without having to purchase
individual product licenses. Tailored to the unique environment of every
customer, the MasterKey License System maximizes productivity and engineering
budgets by providing a full-range of simulation capabilities and flexible
product management.
"As PRSS strives to be a more efficient R&D organization, the MasterKey
licensing system helps us stay at the cutting edge of technology through the
delivery of a comprehensive set of simulation tools at a competitive price,"
said Nordin Nor, Managing Director and CEO of PRSS.
