Bombardier Extends Investment in MSC.MasterKey License System
Leading Manufacturer of Innovative Transportation Solutions Extends Use of
MSC.Software Virtual Product Development Tools
SANTA ANA, Calif., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MSC.Software Corp.
(NYSE:MNS), the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD)
products including simulation software and services, today announced that
Bombardier Transportation, the global leader in the rail equipment
manufacturing and servicing industry has increased their investment in the
MSC.MasterKey Licensing System. Bombardier Transportation serves a diversified
customer base around the world with its wide range of products, including
passenger rail vehicles and total transit systems, locomotives, freight cars,
bogies, propulsion & controls and rail control solutions. With their new
investment in the token-based MSC.MasterKey License system, Bombardier
Transportation now has global access to all of MSC.Software's VPD solutions and
is using most of the tools within their simulation and analysis groups in 27
sites worldwide.
"The MSC.MasterKey License system is the absolute best solution for global
companies such as Bombardier who need convenient access to diverse resources,"
says Frank Perna, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software. "Not
only do they have access to the complete MSC.Software portfolio, they also have
the ability for any engineer around the world to use any of our software tools,
twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Virtual Product Development isn't
an individual product you can buy out of the box. And to integrate and mature
use of VPD into development processes means engineers cannot rely on piecemeal
solutions. It is important to rely on a strategic supplier who can provide the
whole range of CAE solutions including services."
"Our aim was to consolidate our CAE processes by using a common software
platform on a global basis," said Mr. Micko Bjorck, Manager Center of
Competence Structural Mechanics, Bombardier, Sweden. "We have known
MSC.Software as a strategic partner and reliable software supplier for many
years now, and have been using several tools, such as MSC.Nastran, MSC.Patran,
MSC.Marc, MSC.Fatigue, and MSC.Dytran under our last token-based agreement.
This kind of license agreement allows for an even more flexible access to the
entire MSC.Software portfolio world-wide and gives us the guarantee to always
work with the latest and best versions of the software. Since we can now try
new types of software while still relying on the same provider, we expect to
further streamline our development process."
