MOSCOW--The Bank of Russia said Wednesday that it moved the ruble's trading band higher.
The central bank said on its website that the currency band was moved five kopecks higher to RUB32.40-RUB39.40 ($1.00-$1.22) against the euro-dollar basket.
It marks the eleventh straight time since Aug. 7 and the first time in November that the bank has moved the range upward by five kopecks.
The central bank keeps the ruble within a floating corridor against the basket. It moves the currency band five kopecks either way if its accumulated purchases or selling of foreign currencies exceeds $400 million.
At the upper end, the central bank sells dollars and euros to ease downside pressure on the ruble. The bank buys foreign currencies when the ruble firms toward the lower boundary of the band.
