TruePosition Signs Contract With Viaero Wireless to Supply its
Network-based Finder System Optimized for Rural Carriers
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., July 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TruePosition(R), Inc.,
a leading provider of location-based technologies and solutions, today
announced an agreement with Viaero(TM) Wireless to provide its Uplink Time
Difference of Arrival (U-TDOA) wireless location system to enable Viaero to
meet the Phase II requirements of the Federal Communications Commission's
(FCC's) E-911 mandate.
TruePosition's Finder(TM) System has exceeded those requirements in customer
deployments covering many of the U.S.'s top 100 markets and is now bringing
this capability to the rural carrier community. TruePosition's solution
provides Viaero with an affordable platform for the provision of emergency
services and can also accommodate future location-based services.
"We selected TruePosition because of their demonstrated market leadership,
their location platform, and their commitment to meeting the needs of the Tier
III carrier. The result is a system that will provide us with the best and
most cost-effective combination of performance, reliability and flexibility,"
said Larry Aisenbrey, Senior Vice President of Viaero Wireless. "In the rural
market, our customers are also our neighbors and friends, so we are committed
to provide them with the tools necessary to ensure their safety while providing
them access to the latest wireless services available," added Aisenbrey.
"TruePosition recognizes the importance and unique challenges of providing
E-911 services to all U.S. wireless users, including those in rural areas,"
stated Chris Polito, TruePosition's Vice President of Sales. "We have
optimized our Finder System to meet the needs of rural operators and we are
delighted to be working with Viaero, one of the most forward thinking and
progressive carriers in the rural market."
Since TruePosition's U-TDOA-based Finder System is a network-based wireless
location technology, Viaero is able to offer E-911 services to their GSM
subscribers without requiring them to replace or modify their current phones.
"We are pleased to be working with TruePosition," said Frank Dirico, President
of Viaero Wireless. "It has always been Viaero's mission to provide superior
quality rural wireless service to our subscribers. The intent is to provide
access to services that allow them to communicate better, feel safer and in
doing so, improve the quality of their lives." We know that TruePosition's
wireless location system is in line with our goals. Not only will our system
enable us to enhance the safety of our subscribers by providing E-911 service,
but we now have the foundation in place to offer cutting-edge location-based
services in the future."
