Post-Effective Amendment to Resale Registration Statement for
Kellwood's Previously Issued Convertible Senior Debentures Is Filed With SEC



ST. LOUIS, Feb. 23  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In June 2004, Kellwood Company
(NYSE:KWD) issued $200 million of 3.50% Convertible Senior Debentures due 2034
in a private placement transaction.  The Company announced today that it has
filed a post-effective amendment to the registration statement which registers
for resale these debentures (and the shares of common stock of Kellwood Company
issuable upon the conversion of the debentures) with the Securities and
Exchange Commission on February 23, 2005.

The registration statement relates to the resale by selling securityholders of
Kellwood's debentures and the common stock issuable upon conversion of the
debentures.  Kellwood will not receive any proceeds from the resale by the
selling securityholders of the debentures or the shares of common stock
issuable upon conversion of the debentures.  The post-effective amendment to
the registration statement was filed to add additional selling securityholders
to the registration statement.
