A German regional court in Munich Tuesday dismissed a damages claim by Kirch Group Litigation Pool GmbH against Deutsche Bank AG (DB) and its then-Chief Executive Rolf Breuer, on formal grounds.
Kirch Group Litigation Pool, which represents 17 of German media mogul Leo Kirch's former companies, claimed damages of more than EUR2 billion after Kirch's former media empire collapsed in 2002.
Deutsche Bank's then-CEO Breuer had held a television interview in which he cast doubts about the financial well-being of the Kirch group. Kirch had argued the interview led to the eventual collapse of the businesses.
The Kirch Group Litigation Pool can still appeal the ruling.
