Jackson Hewitt® Wraps Up Tax Season With More Than $65,000 in "Big Checks for Charity" Donations to Charities Nationwide

PARSIPPANY, N.J., April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc., the nation's second largest tax preparation company, today announced that its first annual "Big Checks for Charity" national campaign resulted in more than $65,000 in franchisee and corporate donations to various charities throughout the United States.

Throughout the month of March, participating Jackson Hewitt® offices and kiosks within Walmart stores offered various discounts to taxpayers choosing to have their tax return prepared and filed by a Jackson Hewitt professional.  For every tax return prepared, the participating offices and kiosks then made a monetary donation to either a local or national charity.  

Some of the charities that received support through "Big Checks for Charity" included:

• American Red Cross for Japan disaster relief
• Make-A-Wish-Foundation® of New Jersey
• American Cancer Society®
• American Cancer Society Relay For Life®
• Children's Miracle Network Hospitals®
• Heartstrings Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support
• Ronald McDonald House Charities®
• Impact A Hero
• Various food banks, churches, schools and other local organizations
