IMC Global Board of Directors Declares Preferred Stock Dividend



LAKE FOREST, Ill., Sept. 9  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Board of Directors of
IMC Global Inc. (NYSE:IGL) today declared a cash dividend of $0.9375 per share
on the Company's 7.50% mandatory convertible preferred stock (NYSE:IGLPRM) for
the period July 1 through September 30, 2004.  The dividend is payable on
October 1, 2004 to mandatory convertible preferred stockholders of record at
the close of business on September 15, 2004.
