The following table lists unplanned and planned production outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on June 9 said its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery is still operating at reduced rates while efforts to restart a coker unit continue since a lightning strike on June 6 caused a power failure.
Suncor Energy (SU) on June 9 said planned maintenance at one of two crude units and associated equipment had been concluded at its Edmonton refinery in Alberta, Canada. The plant had already resumed normal rates.
Valero Energy Corp. on June 9 said a pump snag at an FCCU at its Los Angeles-area refinery on June 7 had no material impact on production.
ConocoPhillips (COP) on June 9 said the fire-hit crude unit at its Bayway refinery in Linden, N.J., remained shut and the plant continued to run at reduced rates following a June 1 fire.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on June 9 said a process unit at its Joliet, Illinois, refinery was returned to service after going off-line on May 21. The company wouldn't identify the unit.
Alon Refining (ALJ) on June 8 said its Krotz Springs, Louisiana, refinery, shut in late May in anticipation of Mississippi River floodwaters, is in restart mode. Maintenance, planned for 3rd-quarter 2011, was advanced and completed in the time frame.
ConocoPhillips (COP) on June 8 reported excess emissions due to mechanical issues at its Rodeo, Calif., refinery; the facility reported flaring activity on June 5, according to filings with state environmental regulators. The cause of the incidents was not disclosed.
BP PLC (BP) on June 8 reported the restart plan for FCCU-3 at its Texas City, Texas. The unit was shut June 7 for 48-hours of maintenance at an associated Wet Gas Scrubber.
Tesoro Corp.'s (TSO) Wilmington, Calif., refinery is ramping towards normal operating rates on June 7 following a power outage the day before. Several unspecified processing units were affected by the outage, company spokesman Mike Marcy said late Tuesday.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) said on June 7 that shipping docks at its Baton Rouge, La., refinery had been completely re-opened after closing on May 15 due to the Mississippi River flooding. The docks were partially re-opened around May 25 when water levels receded, the company said at that time. The refinery is operating at planned rates.
Several processing units at Western Refining's (WNR) oil refinery in El Paso, Texas, were restarted on June 6 after an early morning, spotty, power failure resulted in shut downs in the north and south sections of the plant, the company said in a filing to Texas state environmental regulators.
Citgo Petroleum Corp. on June 5 shut FCCU No. 2 at its oil refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, due to a malfunction at an associated pressure control valve, the company said in a filing to Texas state environmental regulators.
