4 p.m. CT Hurricane Rita Update, Friday, Sept. 23: Hibernia Announces Branch Closings in Advance of Hurricane Rita; ATMs, Online

Hibernia Bank (NYSE:HIB) today announced the following
news regarding its branch and non-branch locations in Louisiana and
Texas in advance of Hurricane Rita.

   In Louisiana:

   --  Offices in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany,
        Washington, East Baton Rouge, Ascension, Livingston,
        Tangipahoa, St. Mary, Iberia, Vermilion, Lafayette, Cameron,
        Jeff Davis, Calcasieu, Allen, Lafourche, Assumption,
        Terrebonne, St. John, St. Charles, Rapides and Avoyelles
        parishes are closed and will remain closed through the
        weekend.

   --  Offices in northwest and northeast Louisiana with Saturday
        hours will follow their normal schedule.

   In Texas:

   --  Rio Grande Valley and Austin: Offices remain open.

   --  All other areas of southern Texas: Offices are closed and will
        remain closed through the weekend.

   --  East Texas: Offices Lufkin, Elysian Fields, Marshall, Longview
        Judson, Longview Loop, Gladewater, Mineola, Lindale,
        Hide-a-Way, Tyler Loop, Tyler South Broadway, Jacksonville,
        Palestine Sycamore, Palestine Loop and Chireno are closed and
        will remain closed through the weekend.

   --  Dallas/Fort Worth and Texarkana: Offices with Saturday hours
        will follow their normal schedule.

   All other Hibernia branch and non-branch locations are open for
business as usual.
