Hughes Network Systems Wins Three New Contracts from GTECH Corporation to
Provide Broadband Satellite Services for Nationwide Lottery Operations
GTECH Orders Two DIRECWAY(R) Hubs and 12,000 Additional Satellite Terminals 


GERMANTOWN, Md., March 10  /PRNewswire/ -- Hughes Network Systems, Inc. (HNS),
the world's leading provider of broadband satellite services, today announced it
won three new contracts valued in excess of $34 million from GTECH Corporation ,
the world's leading provider of transaction processing systems and services to
the lottery industry.

Under the terms of the contracts, HNS will deliver and install two new DIRECWAY
hubs, one located in Austin, Texas and the other in West Greenwich, Rhode
Island, plus supply 12,000 additional DW4020 satellite terminals, along with
associated hub and satellite services.  The DW4020 terminal provides enterprise
customers with a fast, always-on broadband connection.  It operates as a
self-hosted system, eliminating the need for a dedicated hostPC and enables a
local Ethernet network of computers, yielding overall greater network power and
reliability.
